do what makes you happy and apparently band (with the rough schedule and all) doesnt if you feel the need to just tell them you are sorry but need some spare time in your life to do the things you want...believe it or not and this is a hard one you dont owe them your life just because they taught you to play you deserve some "you" time (downtime) from school stuff

You made a commitment and therefore honor it for the rest of the year. Let them know early that this is your last year. You just have other activities that you need to do. On the other hand, is this just for football season? Do you have band practice in the summer? Perhaps there is a compromise here. Time off and band practice. Surely both are available to you. It may be your only opportunity to learn the trumpet which could make a difference in your life. Kids always want the easy way (I was a kid) but parents and teachers look to your future. Cause and effect. Hard work produces good results. When the going gets rough do we faint?

Talk to them and see if they can change the practice time. The only other thing is- just take a weekend off once in a while. You're not quitting but if you'd like to have a sleepover then tell them a week ahead of time that you won't be able to make it next week.
Have a great day!!!

What instrument are you playing?

Do what makes you feel free and happier. I know you definitely care about others but when it gets to a point where you hate something so, you need to address the issue. You are not happy and they should understand. You want a life outside of the trumpet. Maybe you could find out about rescheduling practice so that weekends are all yours. You can't please everyone.

Just because you have to get up early for practice doesn't mean that you can't have fun. Invite some of your band friends over for a sleep over, get up and go to practice together!! If there's a will there is a way!

If you don't quit doing something that you hate doing, it affects you in a negative way... it causes you to have a bitter attitude & that attitude could spill over onto other people.
Undoubtedly, they'd want to be around you while you have a good attitude, rather than a bad one.
They can't have it both ways>>> you with good feelings toward>>> having to march & play that trumpet.

You have to make a decision as to which cause is more important-

Either you have to put more priority on the success of the band or on your personal recreation. If I were you I would stick with the band in order to finish out the season. Then if you decide to do something else, thats different.

im in band too. ive been playing the flute for like 6 years so its pretty important to me and im a dedicated band geek. trumpets are important instruments in a band and they might need you; but friends and some leisure are important too. whats more important to you? band or fun stuff? is band still considered fun for you?

you hate it, dont torture youself! If you dont like it, then dont go. You are young, live your life the way that you want to, have fun with your friends that you've got now, while you can. There is a reason why marching bands are always low in numbers....dont like it, dont go.

Just deal with it till it's over and then during the summer have sleep overs all the time and when school starts just don't join marching band.
