Oh no! My partner and I are just one year away from 45! Is it all near the down hill slide from now on? Are we obsolete at 50? Only if we let it. So yeah, we are starting menopause, this will take many years to finish. We still live and love as we have since we were hand fasted almost 26 years ago. We are companions, lovers, and strong in our commitment to each other. We laugh, enjoy many hobbies and crafts, go camping, collect things, garden, music, movies and talk to strangers on the computer. And if we can enlighten others with our opinions, so be it. Or live and let live. True love knows no gender.

Look lesbians are just woman that love women so nothing happens to them when they turn 45or even 60 my lover and I have been together for more then 6 years she is 42 and I am 33 but age is just a number that is all she and I have so much fun together you would never know that are ages are so far apart we also have a friend that just turned 50 in july and if you looked at her you would think she was still in her late 30's so what is the big deal about age????? By asking if we still function after 45 is like asking if you could still function after you turn 50 come on can you????? You really need to stop and think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you mean, they can no longer function? when you turn 50 (if your blessed to live that long) do you plan on not being able to do what you used to do...come on be serious! I happen to know at least 15 couples (men and women) who not only have been together for years but are 48, 52, 58, 50 years YOUNG. If you are talking about sex....I am sure they can perform....what part of a Lesbian would not be able to function? I'll let you in on a little secrete....love is more important than sex to an older Lesbian, and a lot of young ones also.

Try not to bury me yet OK? I am a 55 year old lesbian. I take care of my aging parents, I bicycle (when I was 52 I bicycled from Amsterdam to Paris that's about 575 miles), hike, and live. I am a philosopher, a photographer, a graphics artist and a follower of the Tao.
I have survived two long term companions and buried them both.(one in the family plot next to my son.)
I built my computer from the motherboard out, I read and continue to learn something everyday.
I am probably not as fast as I once was, but endurance counts in my book.
My sexuality is just one small part of who I am. I am most likely more discerning now than I used to be. When I am no longer needed by my aging parents I plan to go to Europe to settle, perhaps from a bicycle touring company, continue my photography and do alot of bicycle touring on my own. I still enjoy a good wine, fine dining and the company of an intelligent woman.
At this point there is not much I cannot do or that does not "function" I might be a bit slower, but I still function just fine thank you very much.

Probably what all humans do as we age and 'cant function like we used too'. we have sex only 3 times a week instead of daily, stop playing certain sports cos of the strain it puts on our knees, take longer to get over a big night out, spend more time travelling cos we can afford it now etc etc
what a totally stupid question!!!!!!!!

Huh?????
What do you mean by "can no longer function like they used to?"
That's highly suggestive.
I'm 40 and I can tell you that all my parts work just fine!
We don't magically turn straight, we don't suddenly disappear of the face of the planet, no space ship comes to take us away.
We just mellow out and let the youngin's do all the hip-hopin around....just like any other group of people.
Most of us settle down a like happy little lives with our partners....but our PARTS work the same way they always have.

IS THIS A TRICK QUESTION? Lesbians don't live past 45, we just curl up and die. Geez, We just get a bit slower and don't go to clubs every Friday night. What do straight women do after 45?.

Find things to do..... I mean I know they can't play volleyball or what not because they may break a hip but they can do other things. Strolls along the beach or whatever.....
