Have you ever noticed that people act like they like you more when you are down and out? They are not as supportive when you start to succeed and sometimes act deliberately to prevent this from happening.

Is it because they feel empowered by your needing them?

Have you personally experienced/ witnessed this?

Sure! It goes back to the old adage, "Success breeds contempt!" Be proud of your accomplishments....forget the nay-sayers! They will come around eventually, when they see success hasn't changed the true person you are.

yes, but they are more like jealous.But I have also noticed that if they have great life they aren't jealous of your life and they are glad for you.

certain individuals may feel intimidated by another individuals success.
