I was wandering if anyone thinks that maybe ipod minis can be updated to a colored LCD screen. Maybe a software that might do it also. If anyone knows of the software let me know! Also if anyone has heard rumors that they will make an update to color iPod Minis let me know also. I look foward to reading all of your answers!

The iPod nano was the replacement to the iPod mini. It does have a color screen and photo capabilities. As for a software update, there is none. The iPod mini's B&W screen is part of their hardware, not software. You cannot change it unless you physically take off the current screen and put a color screen on it, but then the iPod wouldn't work, so basically you can't do it.

Yes, it's called an iPod Nano and it's been out for many months.
The color iPod mini was rumored before they came out with the Nano. I preferred the aluminum case rather than the scratch-prone glossy plastic.
There is no economical way they'd upgrade or bring back the iPod mini in color.
The next generation of small iPods will have screens that take up most of the face of the iPod for video viewing. With the price drops on the Nano, it should hopefully be out in a couple months.

The updated ipod mini is the nano, it has a color screen but they are going to update the nano and might include more colors other than black and white and that might happen this month, but the updated mini with the color screen is the nano, you can see on apple.com

The iPod Mini is no longer in production. It has been replaced by the iPod Nano, the iPod Shuffle, and the all-powerful, soon to be replaced, iPod Video.
