I'd suggest a modern or ballet class to begin. It's demanding and they'll teach you how to take care of your body.

Once you've learned "how" to warm up and take care of your body then try some jazz or hip-hop which have some demanding and taxing moves.

The initial research into care of your body will give you the foundation to explore anything you like -- salsa, ballroom, hip-hop, tap. It's all worthwhile and fun.

Take Ballet, Jazz or Lyrical first then you can explore other dances like ballroom, Latin, and Hip-hop. I take Ballroom and Latin when I was 25 and regret that I didn't take all those dances before.

Salsa!!! Its soooo much fun, you'll meet awsome people (also cute guys) and it's a great work out. Trust me, I've been doing it for 7 years and I love it. Plus theres clubs out there where u can go to show off ur moves. There isn't a Tap Dance Club. U can only go to classes to do that, Good Luck!!

HIP HOP IS GREAT BUT TRUST ME YOU SHOULD ALWAYS STRAT WITH BALLET SO YOU CAN GET FLEXIBLE AND HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE IN DANCE ,THAT WAY WHEN YOU GET BORED AND LEARNED ENOUPH YOU CAN BE IN HIP-HOP AND HAVE SOME FUN PLUS IT WONT BE AS HARD BECAUSE YOU ALREADY TOOK BALLET! :-)

For a young lady like you, I would suggest that you first take
up ballroom dancing (that is waltzing) and then go on next to
cha-cha, fox-trot, tango and jiving. These are great dances
and cannot be replaced with all the crazy teenyboppers dig.

I like country line dancing myself. But it's really a matter of personal preference.

latin (samba, cha-cha, rumba) and ballroom (Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot) and nightclub (salsa, swing,) are tons of fun and aesy to learn

Take ballet - its a good foundation for all other dances if you ever decide to switch it will be easy.
