This is the wrong question for a sales person to ask. The right question is: What can I do to become the best sales person? Typically that answer lies in the fact that top sales people spend more time on prospecting and sales than most sales people do... it's easy to get bogged down in administrative activities, book work, and just plain goofing off. To chart your progress, keep track of every contact you make and follow-up on a regular basis every week or so. In general, if you haven't closed a sale by the sixth contact, frankly ask, "Sir/mam, do you know when we will be able to do business?" Based on their answer, make a decision as to whether your time would be better spend elsewhere. During business hours, you should be prospecting and selling continuously... that's tough to do for two hours straight, yet alone for eight hours a day. But if you love to sell, the time will fly by. If it drags for you, you might want to consider another position. I suspect you really don't like what you're doing... and my friend, there are much easier ways to make a living. Find your passion and go for it.
