Directly above it? I'm sure he knew it too. Was he really showing off and got surprised? It's sad.

I think thats what happened you know.

he was filming dangerous sea creatures and I think his
daredevil self got in the way.
tragic way to perish, I expected him to go older, after he retired from this stuff.

there is no way to replace him.

He was filming an Ocean's Deadliest footage or something for his daughter, Bindi Sue. It's no suprise that he was in the danger-zone. I'm not sure that he was, but okay. And sting ray deaths aren't as likely. There has only been three reported in Austrailia for the past 64 yeras. But... He's always doing dangerous stuff, which also contributes to him being such a legend. He was such a great guy. Has a great wife and two wonderful children. God Bless Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter.

First of all, he may have been swimming in area that was dangerous, but since 1947 in all of Australia, there has been only one other death from a stingray. He really doesn't show off, he knows what he's doing and got caught off guard. How many times have people been injured in the much publicized stingray swim in the Bahamas. Millions of people swim with them. A few have been injured, and in the foot or hand. It was just a freakish accident, unfortunately Steve played the ultimate price. It is sad, especially for his dear friends and family.

Because that's how he did things,on the edge of danger. Yes of course he knew it. No, he wasn't showing off, just doing what he always did, engaging in wild and dangerous practices!! Unfortunately for him,it went wrong. It was just a matter of time before something like this would happen. It is sad, yes, but he knew the risks involved, and was happy doing what he did, paying the ultimate price,death............

He wasn't in a danger zone. He was filming an upcoming special, when the tragic accident occurred. Stingrays are docile, but might have just had an encounter with a shark, and then mistook Steve for a shark! But if he was filming a special, where where the camera staff, and was it caught on film?

a brief-tailed bull ray, Dasyatis brevicaudata, as close to as i will tell from the descriptions and site. Ray venom is fairly painful, yet very infrequently deadly, and then to persons that have intense anaphylactic reactions especially. This substitute right into a very super ray with a very long backbone (as much as in simple terms approximately 15" long in this species) and it in simple terms took place to strike up under the ribs into the midsection. they are actually not aggressive and in user-friendly terms lash out while severely threatened or trapped, including while grabbed, stepped on or cornered. This one curiously felt trapped with him suitable above and the cameraman in front, in accordance to the comments.

This was just a freak accident. People aren't normally killed by stingray's. They're peaceful like dolphin. Steve was just doing his job. He died doing what he loved. Rest in Peace Crocodile Hunter. You will be greatly missed.
