I can remember my youngest brother been in the 'Tufty Club' at school and getting a badge for learning how to cross the road safely, I missed out on it as I had just started secondary school and was so jealous because all we'd ever got for crossing the road was a clip round the ear hole for not listening.

Tufty the Squirrel was a very popular public information film character starting in the 60s aimed at teaching children how to cross the road safely with his "friend" Willy Weasel - Children could join the Tufty Club which had its own badge - try www.625.uk.com/pifs/library.htm & www.icons.org.uk/nom/nominations/tufty-club
