If an engine were to use pure oxygen would it be more efficient

if you have a high compression engine it might delay the onset of spark knock. If it is a little cooler than usualy the engine might get a small performance boost, but id say not really

It does somewhat. Race engines have to be tuned by the water content in the air. But for everyday engines, it is practically a non-factor.

An engine cannot be run off of pure oxygen. It is just to volatile. The oxygen content in Nitrous Oxide is what makes the compound work so well. But it has to include Nitrogen to use as a buffer for the oxygen. To be exact, the compound uses 2 parts nitrogen to 1 part oxygen. That is how volatile oxygen is.

Water content does increase horse power and economy.You get cooling and the water expands by 700 times when converted to steam.Thats why they fit water injection.Pure oxy is too much on engines.

cars are like humans, they need air, without it it would die.
when water is introduce to a carberator it makes the vehicle run bad, kinda like water in the lungs, you drowned, same effect on a vehicle.
pure oxygen is expesive and not worth the price to auto makers.
but yes it would, as would humans, they are alot alike.
an air filter acts like lung hairs....they keep the air as pure as possible..free of dirts and contaminates. good luck

yes it does and my friend dad has a drag boat and we keeps track of the humidity when he races and set his engine to his records
