1. I'm a Christian as well. I didn't grow up with Christian parents; however, I became a Christian when I was 16.
2. You can and should have friends of all types and you are to love them as Christ loves them. However, if you are a Christian you know that Jesus is the Way the Truth and Life, the only way to God is through Him.
So keep your friends, keep on loving them, but first keep on loving Christ for what He did for you and for them. You can make them believe what you believe....only God can. But that doesn't necessarily mean you need to condone their actions especially if they conflict with the convictions that God has placed in your own heart.
Short answer: Love them, but don't compromise your faith because of it. If they ask you or you are in a place where God is telling you to talk to them about HIm....then do it.

1. I'm a muslim. I believe that there is no God except Allah ("Allah" is just the Arabic word for God) and that Muhammad SAW is his prophet. I was not born a muslim though. i converted one year ago. Contrary to what some of the Christian answerers said, I do not believe that every other religion is false. I believe that all religions of the Book (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are based on the same truths. Islam is the perfection of the word of God, but it doesn't mean that what the other prophets have said before Muhammad SAW is wrong or false.
Furthermore I believe that Islam is a religion of peace. The warped image that the western world has of Islam is a result of the wicked minds of some terrorists who claim to be muslim, and of what the media shows. I myself am of Dutch origin, but I was lucky to see the real Islam, which is very different of what the media show. Islam is a religion of peace and freedom.
2. You are absolutely right. People should be free to believe what they want. If people disagree about something they should talk about it. Perhaps they will still disagree after a discussion, but at least they may understand each other better.

Ashley,
I am Catholic and believe in the Apostles Creed and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
As a philosopher I ask pertinent questions on such issues:
1. If I knew nothing about religion, went to college to study it, look in the encyclopedia, what would I discover?
2. Who started the religion and when?
3. Is God more powerful than Satan or good stronger than evil?
4. If God is more powerful would God prevail in people's beliefs? Notice I did not say actions. This is because we are all human and will sin.
If you answer these questions you would make your own discoveries and realize significant truths. In general, all people should be treated by the Golden rule: Do unto others as you would like done to you. Specifically, the belief systems of athiests and wiccans is to be rejected and those who practice it under suspicion. Why? Athiests, in general, are intollerent of religion, especially Christians. They are not for freedom of religion, they are for it being suppressed. This is because they believe in the myth of separation of church and state. Christianity has been under attack from athiests for 70+ years.
Wiccan practices deal with casting spells and having spiritual powers. This sort of thing comes from the demons. Godly people do not practice such things but call upon the angels of God. This is the fundamental truth. This is why you hear the Catholic Church condemning movies like Harry Potter which encourages children to call upon demons or desire to have spiritual powers. This is not the role for human beings but to be dependent upon God.
Hope this helps explain why their is some apprehension or problems.

I am an atheist. I do not believe in anything supernatural or unproved. I believe, without a doubt, that all religions that I have been introduced to were created by humans, and are not in the least divine in nature.
Frankly, although I don't share this opinion too often, I somewhat look down on people who lack the logical thinking process that clearly shows religion to be fallible and not at all correct in the assumptions made. I believe that I do have some kind of mental superiority above people who fully believe such far fetched and really illogical things.
I can respect your right to believe what you want, but more often than not the beliefs of others do impact my life, and I don't appreciate that.
Therefore, I am unable to love the fact that you are religious, and frankly, I would prefer the religious to keep all their beliefs to themselves, and not try to create social policy that forces their views on all others.

1) I am a Christian
2) I think you should be able to believe what you want w/o being judged by others. You should never feel like you're a bad person because of other people putting your faith down. They can believe what they want, but you alone know what your beliefs are and should stick to them no matter what others say. And if they can't deal with that then that's their problem.

This question reminds me of something our pastor has said. People say you have no right to judge me. Right? Well a response is everyone makes judgements everyday. You make a judgement that its a bad idea to but diesel in your unleaded gas tank. You make a judgement that, you don't smoke cigarettes all day because you might end up dying of lung cancer. Don't feel bad that people disagree with you. Tell them based on your experience and what the Bible has said you believe that there is one way to God and that its through Jesus Chirst. You seem like a caring person. That's great! Tell people you love your Athiest and Wiccan friends. And that Jesus Loves them too. You are not passing the judgement. God is. Your just telling them what God says. It may not seem fair to us that God says there is only one way. But we are human and He is God. It's a tough one, I know. Your not alone in this struggle. Keep believing in God and his plan.

I'm not entirely sure where you're coming from. I was a fervent Christian from my teen years into my late '20's. Now I'm an atheist. But I don't care if others have their own beliefs. Why should I? I don't believe a god exists, so I should just see everyone's practice of religion as folly. But most of the atheists I've met in my lifetime get very angry at people for being Christians. This makes no sense to me. Their atheism has become their religion and they become zealous proselytizers for their own new faith....the faith of atheism.
Basically, if you're not trying to force people to believe as you do, then they shouldn't care what you believe. I think I agree with you on that point.
In a few generations, it won't matter. The muslims will have taken over the world by forcing people into death or Islam. They're doing it now in Africa. Give it time and we'll see it everywhere.
At any rate, I see you play acoustic. Me too. I still learn hymns (bizarre, I know, but part of the culture I was raised in) and I still even write new praise music as a service to my Christian friends. I'm well-versed in the Bible and like to incorporate scriptures into the choruses I write. If you'd like to email to share music and ideas, write me at fortitudinousskeptic@yahoo.com - Kevin

1. I'm Pagan, learning Wicca
2. Those who put you down for having your own opinions are ignorant or insecure. No matter what you believe, you'll still be the same person and true beliefs can't be changed. People should stop judging others on what they believe, they should love and respect each other.
You're not a bad person for believing what you do, you should ignore those who put you down.

i am Christ follower. i hate the word Christian, because of the steriotypes and other reasons (i went to a private Christian school where everyone were "christians' and there was just a lot of fakers and stuff). i grew up in a Christian home, both parents were saved and everything, and i did grow up thinking that because my parents are saved, i was saved, but that's not the case. you have to own it for yourself. God created each of us, and for one main purpose: to have a relationship with Him. the all powerful, all knowing, all loving God of the universe wants to be our friend. he cares so much, he loves you when no one else does, he loves you when you don't love yourself. he paid the price for our sins, he died when we should have died. i had a huge identity crisis where i didn't know who i was. i had to call upon the name of Jesus to find out who i am, through Him. just by myself, i am nothing. i can't accomplish anything, my will for my own life is crap because i don't know how my life is going to end up. jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." God has the ultimate plan and destiny for my life, and even tho i don't know every detail, i know God won't let me down. he's guiding my steps everyday and will never leave or forsake me; he's the best friend anyone could ever have.
the reason that so many people don't accept Christianity is because of sinful nature: people realize that God is real, and that he is powerful. there is power in the name of Jesus.
don't feel discouraged when others look down on you- God's already taken care of it. 1 Peter 5:7- "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
i hope this helped! :)

I'm agnostic.
I choose to believe in Descartes.
If you can't provide me with enough evidence to prove beyond any doubt that you exist, how can I believe/disbelieve in anything that has no proof at all?
I'm not sure if the above statement makes sense. I'm incredibly stressed out.
More coffee, I think.
