Here is what I do if I need to restore my unit

1) Click Start
2) Click All Programs
3) CL ck accessories
4) Click System Tools
5) Click System Restore
6) You will be asked to set a restore point.
7) Once you are asked to set a restore point, there will be a calendar and you can click the say you want to restore (example you can set the restore point at Sunday September 3, 2006 at 10:35 PM)
8) After you have your restore point set, your computer will re-start, and hopefully things will be set up to where you had your computer last night.

Hope this helps.

System Restore is a Windows XP feature that has its roots in Windows me. It allows users to save all important system files, called creating a checkpoint, and restore them later if something happens with the system. It is essentially a feature that allows users to go back in time and undo all changes to a system.

System Restore monitors system files and creates checkpoints at the time of significant system events (e.g., driver and application installation) and periodically (every 24 hours). Periodical restore points are only created when the CPU is idle. Additionally, users can manually create restore points through the System Restore utility found in Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools.

System Restore is enabled automatically once Windows XP is installed. Keep in mind that System Restore requires at least 200 MB of free space on each partition; otherwise, it is disabled and all previous restore points are lost. When more than 200 MB of free space becomes available, System Restore is turned on automatically.

By default, System Restore will use up to 12 percent of a user's hard drive to store restore points. This means that users can store several restore points on the hard drive, which are ready to be rolled back. The exact number of restore points depends on the available space on the hard drive. Larger hard drives have more restore points that can be saved. When there is not enough space, older points are deleted. All restore points are compressed using NTFS compression.

you know in some cases you have problem in your computer it can be very different problems. in that cases they use system restore. in the windows after windows me we have restore function and it is automaticly on. just you can go to start--->programs--->accessories---->system tools--->system restore--->in the wizard you can make a checkpoint(just like games) or restore your computer. when you choose restore your computer to an earlier time you would see a calender that in some days you can click on it. when you click on a valid day you will see some lists in the right part. it will show the thing that installed or modified on your pc. choose the one who made the problem for you or you guess that thing is the problem. then click next and finish the wizard. it will make your computer shutdown and take a progress to restore your computer. it will only restore your system files nothing else and your documents and files will be safe

System restore is to undo harmfull changes to your computer in order to get it back to a point where it was once working without any problems. To turn it on, click on start, control panel, performance and maintenance, system, system restore tab, uncheck the box that says "turn off system restore"

You are so brainless it isnt even funny. What system restore is, it makes your computer go back to a earlier time. And you cant use it. Because you need a special code to unlock it. You will have to call up Microsoft and get that code. If you dont and you activate system restore you can get arrested and go to prision. It is up to you. Have a good day.

Go to help, and look under the other items, you should see Restore listed, it is usually turned on, except if you have Norton works, then that turns it off (sady)
The larger the amount of disk spave you allow, the longer it can hold restore points. (ie more of them)
