I tried the "alt" + "164" nothing came out. I have a laptop I dot not if that helps.

press "alt" (the alternate key) and simultaneously 164 (on numeric keypad)... you get: ñ
press "alt" 165 you get Ñ

In Word, go to Insert, then Symbol, find the letter, and you will see the shortcut that is assigned to the letter. You can change it, if you need to.

On Windows: hold down "Alt" and type "0241" on the keypad.

On Mac: hold down "option" and press "n", then release "option" and press "n" again.
