Sure, need I remind you of other bodily functions that can be done under water? However if you were too deep the pressure of the water would be stronger than the pressure exerted by the lacrimal glands when you were crying. I suppose it would vary from person to person but I imagine if one were quite bored, and had a reasonable grasp of hydrostatics, one could calculate a depth at which crying would become impossible. Pure, shallow, heated water free of chemicals would be the best place to do your aquatic crying. However, I was always under the impression from 'The Little Mermaid' that life was happier 'Under the Sea'.

I don't see any reason why you can't cry under water - but it would be interesting to try it would it not - try it the next time you take a shower - I have cried often in the shower - doesn't seem to matter to the water!@

its possible, if the water contains a large amount of chlorine, but no one will be able to tell tears from real water unless you're making some funky faces

To Cry: To weep; and shed grief with tears.
Mermaids can't cry because their tears are underwater, so they can feel sadness, but any tear of theirs is already the ocean. The same with Humans.

To Grieve: You can grieve underwater, but you can never cry underwater. Your tears are shed. If they never shed, (despite the composition) they never exist. They are just sadness.

probably not - you'd have to be crying before you went under water because once you were under you'd stop concentrating on crying and start concentrating on swimming automatically
