Well since post means after, Than after the original punk bands , like The Clash, GG Alan, Sidvishous. Literally it would mean everything that came after. But figuratively i would assume that you are referring to the current pseudo-punk bands such as Good Charlotte, Blink 182 Sum 41 and other **** of that nature.

It pretty much means not true punk to be honest. Most bands that are on today the radio and such, Good charlotte consider themselves Post Pop Punk.

Yeah its exactly like zosomaniac said, they are bands like that, who "used to be" punk bands you know? Started out that way, n entered the alternative-rock side of music...but you can still see the flair of punk behind it, cuz bands like the Rolling Stones for example, they are classic rock yes, but can also be regarded as alternative rock sometimes (it depends on the song), but they have no punk-flair to them, they have the old-school-rock flair to them. Hehe, ok im not sure if i explained that too well...but i hope it helps. Cool question by the way, i hadnt even given the meaning of Post-Punk much thought till now. :)
