Is the non-commercial use of my band covering a protected work a copyright violation?

I want to post an mp3 of me and my bros tearing up The Who's "Squeeze Box" on my domain, and link to it through my 360 page, in streaming format.

I think if your band is playing the song it is your on "take" and therefore legal. Ya know "cover bands" play other artists all the time. Why not?
