I don't think he deserved to die, but it seems that he spent a lot of time messing with creatures that shouldn't be messed with, if you get my drift. Wasn't this bound to happen sooner or later?

As another asker posted, isn't it weird he got killed by a stingray and not a crocodile? And yes, he was waaaaay too young to die, for sure.

You know, we all flirt with death every waking moment. He died doing what he loved best...being as close to animals that he could possibly be and educating us. It was his passion and I'm sure if he had it to choose a way to go, that would have been it. I believe when your number is up, it's up. Doesn't matter where you are or what you are doing at the time. I feel a great loss for his family and especially his kids. At least they have alot of footage of their dad that they can watch for the rest of their lives.

Blimmie! I'm gonna miss that Dude! He was great! Godloveya!

no i honestly dont think he had it coming to him, he grew up doing what he did, and it was something that he loved doing. he was a very brave man and never seen the danger in wot he done. it was just a shame that he died like he did when he spent his life doing things a lot more dangerous. it has been said that the stingray is a calm fish and dont normally kill, it was only because its bard had him in the heart.... he will be greatly missed ...

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

It might have been, but he was brave and very talented. No one would have ever foreseen this coming at all. No one. It really is tragic that he had to go like this, especially at a young age of 44.

I don't think he had it coming. He was good at what he did. Not everyone can get that close to a gator and not get eatten. But he didn't deserve to die. He was way to young and he had a family.

i honestly don't think that is a fair statement.Does a fireman deserve to be burned to death cause that is his job.Its just the options people make...and u never ever think that something like that would happen to u and then...BAM it does and ur on the news paper...it could even happen to u so lets not be judgemental ..take it from me.
