It will probably be several thousand years from now, and the effects will be slight: possibly a small increase in radiation levels at the earth's surface, and a reduction in auroral displays until the field strengthens in the opposite direction. Aside from that, compasses won't work.

What is the attraction of trying to find the answer to a question about something that may or may not happen so far in the future that not only will none of us nor any of our great-great grand children's' great great grand children will ever see, but our descendants will by that time not only have mutated into something we wouldn't even be able to envisage but would be living (if living it be) in a different part of the universe, and that's always assuming that there will still be a universe!
(and isn't that an unbelievably long sentence!)

It is overdue by a few hundred thousand years now. Apparently you will get to see aurora boreali in the sky ,not just the northern and southern pole areas.
Planes will get lost.

It will be a while before that happens. Maybe hundreds of thousands of years. Human beings will be upside down.
