In politics it doesn't matter if what is done is great, luck, stupid, or just straight up dumb. What matters is how people perceive the action. There are times when a politician has a view that is entirely illogical but because people think they relate, they like it. The politicians are distancing themselves from Bush for two main reasons. 1: He is in his last term and so politicians don't have to worry about competing w/ him. They're trying to get as many votes for themselves as possible. 2: The second and most important reason is that the general perception among people is that no one approves of Bush. The news always shows polls of how few people approve of Bush. Naturally people tend to go along with this because a lot of people never learned how up hold how they feel to people do to fear of being ostracized.

As soon as Bush is out of office, I believe the public will find out much more on his corrupt presidency. Obviously the Republican politicians distancing themselves know but cannot speak out with out putting themselves and titles at risk.
For those whom still love Bush, perhaps it is because the politicians realize that Bush is not favored and it is more important to gain the respect of the people for future votes.

Because they all know that Bush is full of Sh*t and the need to put a lot of distance between themselves and Bush lest it rubs off on them To be associated with Bush at this time Could very possibly mean the death of their political career

Politicians are like chameleons, they change to what ever pattern gets them the job, politics is big business, don't kid yourself, if we selected politicians like jury duty we would never hear from them again. RB Fuller said "We should send all the politicians on a trip around the sun" he's right, things would improve! until the next batch hatched.
