Does anyone know how many weeks are in a trimester? or a web site that will explain them to me?

about 12 weeks....break it down....being pregnant months 1-3 is your first trimester, months 4-6 is your second trimester, and months 7-9 is your third trimester.

The first trimester is the period of time from the first day of the last menstrual period through 12 weeks of gestation. It is during this period that the embryo undergoes most of its early structural development. Most miscarriages occur during this period.
The second trimester is the period of time extending from the 13th to the 27th week of gestation. During this period the embryo, now known as a fetus, is recognizable as human in form, but is not developed enough to be viable if born.
The third trimester is the period of time extending from the 28th week of gestation to delivery. It is during this period that the fetus reaches viability, and may survive if born prematurely.
Obviously all three of these trimesters can be of slightly different lengths. There is therefore, technically, no one correct answer.
The word itself is from Latin tri- + mensis meaning three months.

There is 12 wks in a trimester which makes it 36wks =9mths, but the doctors goes by the baby's age which is 40 weeks. I just had a baby a month ago and I couldn't understand why they wouldn't induce my labor until I was 39 wks and this is why. If you have any questions about pregnant you can email me. Just think if you are 9mths pregnant then your baby is only 8mths. There is 40wks in a pregnany not 36wks.

Trimester usually is used in referencing length of pregnancy..1st trimester is 3mons,2nd is 6 months and 3rd is the last 3 months of being pregnant - birth
