There isn't one. The conscience is something that is governed by the emotion controlling centres of the brain, which are different from day to day.

It may also have something to do with the situation and the level of danger contained therein and whether one of the four "F's" (Fight, Flight, Food and, um, Fornication) are involved.

Obviously, there may be more studies that lead us to monitor parts of the brain that control these emotions such as the hypothalamus but we are quite a way from this.

To my knowledge, there are no tools to measure conscience... I do KNOW that dictators such as Hitler and in many Arab countries, they feel that The destruction of the conscience is the real precondition for totalitarian obedience and totalitarian domination.

On the other hand.. I am confused by even the word conscience.... What is it really, conscience? Does it even exist? Or is it not simply a superego(varying from person to person of course) which has been moved inwards and which transforms the taboos of one's education into divine commandments and thus makes them untransgressable?

Again I have to say that I do not know if there is any way of measuring it ... particularly when one does not even REALLY know what it is

no tools so far have even managed to work out how stimuli are converted into electrical impulses!
what can we do about the conscience?
The best thing would be to listen to it and keep it clean.
