I believe Jeter is hands down the best clutch hitter this year in last decade. No doubt about it Papi is good and I respect him he can kick in the clutch he is known for clutch HRs more than just clutch hits like singles, doubles and triples. Jeter in the other hand can hit almost anything when he is leading off when he the potential 3rd out just as good as when he's hitting with runers on , runners on scoring position and RISP with two outs. and by the way take a look at when Jeter hits a home run and tell me whether or not he hits it in the clutch most of the time.(un like A-Rod lol ...I love A-Rod thogh so happy he's back)

Derek Jeter is the better clutch hitter and should win the AL MVP this year. David Ortiz hits walk-offs but they are not the only clutch situations needed to be taken advantage of to win a game. The numbers you posted tell the tale, Jeter has better numbers with RISP and he is 2nd to Joe Mauer in overall average.

Papi 47 Hr; 121 RBI; OBP .400; SLG .633
Jeter 12 Hr; 83 RBI; OBP .418; SLG .482.

Big Papi has the kind of numbers people look at for MVP. Is Jeter a valuable clutch hitter? Yes. Does Big Papi deserve to be the MVP? Without question. The Baseball writers will not give the MVP to Big Papi, in part because some of the National League writers will not give it to a DH and in part because there are more writers in NYC to give the home town vote to Jeter this year as they did to E-Rod, I mean K-Rod, sorrry A-Rod last year.

How many walkoff hits has Ortiz had in the past 3 years? Oh yeah 15. RISP and RISP w/ 2 outs dont mean a thing in terms of "clutch". If the team is up by 9 runs would you really call a hit with runners in scoring position a clutch hit. How bout late innings in close games- Jeter=.213 avg and slugging, Ortiz=.292 avg, .646 slugging. If anyone is overrated as being clutch i would say its Jeter.

Jeter is getting it done this year. RISP and RISP w/2outs tell the story. The Yankees are looking more and more like the team to beat this year in large part because of Jeter.

Ummm there is really no discussion here, it is Pappi by alot. He gets so much respect from pitchers that if 1st base is open late in a close game, they walk him everytime. Jeter is great and if I had to pick one for my team Jeter would be my guy, but who do you want up in the 9th inning of game 7 of the world series down by a run?

David "Big Pappi" Oritz

I think Ortiz is the best clutch hitter. He does so well in the clutch! I mean the Red Sox are dieing, and so is he....in the hospital! Duh! Jeter is way better. Jeter doesn't make excuses when his team is back 9 games! So Go Yankees!
