I think it be like any where else, in there you have to deal with people like in any other job, there will always be hate and acceptance. It's not like we can't control ourselves.

I worked on an Army base for five years, both before and after the introduction of DADT. My observations are:
Sexuality takes a back seat. You think it's hard being gay and in the closet? Try being gay and in the Army. You might get turned on by the other guys, so you put forth a lot of effort avoiding situations where this may become an issue. If you do become turned on by other guys you ignore it or save the moment as fantasy materials for masturbation.
Yes, they do get action. Again, if you think it's hard to find a man, try finding a man in the Army! Fortunately they had me to flush them out! ;-) Still, it was commonly a terrifying experience. It's difficult having sex with someone wondering if you were going to get caught when they stakes are as high as they are, or if the person you were having sex with was going to rat on you.
I sense that your question is born of fantasy, but living life as a gay man in the Army can be a nightmare.

It has been over ten years, but I was in the Navy and gay. Don't ask don't tell had only recently introduced.
I was still mostly in the closet. I told practicly no one about my self. I had only had my first gay experiences just a year prior to joining. I guess at that point in life I thought maybe there was a chance it would go away!
Gradually I found out there were other gay guys on the ship. But I had a firm rule. I would not mess around with anyone on the ship. I did not want to have any weird repercussions from affairs and flings. I kept this rule up until about 5 days before my discharge because by then I was not scared anymore of a possible backlash from a fling gone awry. Through out my time I was friends with other gay guys on the ship, but did not mess with them.
Also, I was very scared of homophobes. A year or so prior to my joining some sailors had killed a gay sailor and it hit the news. I did not want to take the risk of being beat up or kicked out.
However, I had the luck to be stationed in San Diego. There is a big gay community in San Diego. What I did when I was off duty was my business. No one ever asked and I never told. In the bars and other gay establisments I frequented, many of the people there were gay military people like my self.
I was turned on by other guys on my ship. Plus, we used to transport marines and seal around and I was attracted to them too. But I decided to play it safe and stuck to my rule about not messing around with people on my ship and I think I made the right decision.

i'm not turned on by the other guys and don't get any action from them. know why? because i'm not a gay MAN. also, because there's only like one hot guy in my unit. he's REALLY hot. uh. anyway.
why would you be turned on by other people in the army necessarily, when you can be turned on by them anywhere else as well? and gay people aren't turned on by just about every member of the same sex. so there.

I would think it's like being anywhere else, in life we people who hate and people who don't hate and we deal with this all the time. I never hit on anyone who don't want to be hit on.
