Okay I have a shared computer. Me and my two older sisters use it. I write stories and what not on my account and I just noticed that the other users are able to veiw my documents and pictures and music files and everything. It's like an invasion of privacy. How can i prevent this?

I have an administrative account and so does my sisters.

My account DOES have a password. And My mother isn't the master account she doesn't even know how to use a computer. My oldest sister had the first account so I'm guessing hers is the master account. She isn't going to change it from administrative and neither am I. So how do I protect specific files?

Password protect your account. Once you have done this, you can also password protect individual files. You can also hide individual files in your account so others won't even know they exist. There is only one "master" Administrative account( I am assume this belongs to a parent) that grants sub accounts administrative access. Have your parents(s) limit both of your accounts so that neither of you can access administrative control options. Passwords and access to password protected files aren't accessible to the Administrator, but they can be deleted.

Update on Answer: Okay, go to the file you want to protect and right click on it. go to properties. Click on the Share tab. Check the Make this file private, box. There you go. Only you have access to this file. You can also click the customize tab to make it a hidden file, this will keep it from being seen in a file search, but since your sister appears to be the Master administrative account she can see hidden file, but won't be able to access them, but she could delete them. and incidentally, she can also remove your administrative access as well. Be nice to her.

hey if you want them not to access your stuff select your profile folder in the home drive rightclick select properties and select advanced button in the "general" tab in "encrypt or compress" select encrypt and click ok( make sure none of the files are open when you do that) to test that it works create a temp. account and try accessing the your stuff from that profile it shouldn't work.

if you still feel insecure or this method for some reason does'nt work download a "folder protection" s/w from www.download.com and that will do. enjoy!

Youe need to select the NTFS format for your hard drives instead of FAT 32, then you'll have your privacy & so would others (you need to format the drive you've installed windows on). But you can use a file protection program to put passwords on your files, so others won't be able to open them without entering the password.
