The error message says I have downloaded IE6 but it cannot install properly. I need to upgrade to use some new hardware but for the life of me I cannot get it to install correctly and yes, I have turned off all other programs when trying to install.

You definitely need to think about upgrading from ME. Microsoft no longer offers support for that version and will become more susceptible to virus, worms, etc. as time goes by. It was only just a "Beta" version of 2000 in the 1st place and had many bugs, but is a bit more user friendly than 2000. Upgrade to XP. AS for your IE trouble, try skipping 6 altogether and upgrade to IE 7.0 instead. I am not a software engineer or a "guru", just a intermediate PC user, but it is possible that the IE problem is owing to the fact that Windows ME just isn't;t up to handling it or higher versions of IE. I only got as high as IE 5.0 before upgrading to XP myself, so never actually had a similar situation to refer to.

it rather is probably not the respond you prefer to hearken to. yet you look to have performed your analyze, and are available up with not something. Your annoying force could be going undesirable on you. try doing a chkdsk /f from the C on the spot. could be the terrific element you're able to do is reinstall domicile windows from scratch. Been there in the previous myself, and each each and every now and then the reinstall is the quickest thank you to get on with existence. in case you think of with regard to the mega hours you likely already invested, you're transforming into reinstalled domicile windows, and all your ancillary, utility. word, i could relatively evaluate leaving each and every thing on your modern-day HD, and purchase a clean one to load your OS onto.

Stick with 6. There are facilities that are not ready for IE 7. I had a lot of trouble with it that way and went back to 6.
