You're asking the morons around here what to do?

Get your baby to a doctor.

It can be normal for breastfed babies to only poop once a week or so. However, if he used to poop more often, and this just started when you introduced the cereal, I would stop the cereal immediately. You could try introducing some peaches or pears to get his system working again.

He's not truly constipated unless his poop consists of hard pellets.

And I personally wouldn't use a laxative of any kind unless I talked to a doctor first.

If your son seems to be feeling well otherwise, then I'd still try to get a hold of a doctor or nurse hotline to see what they have to say before rushing him to the ER. Of course, you have to trust your own judgment if you think something is truly wrong.

This happened with both of my babies to when I started them on cereal. I had to hold there legs up so that they could poop and there poop was really hard. One thing that works really well is a little bit of cornsyrup in his bottle and shake it really well. I just did this with my 5 month old this morning because it's been about three days since he had a good poop. It worked like a charm, by this afternoon he was greased right up his back. try this and maybe try a babies suppository just insert the tip of it about 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch and move it in small circular motion. if these things don't work get in touch with your doctor or emergency room.

Stop the juice, and stop the cereal! BF babies can go up to 2 weeks without pooping because it is so easily digested. Baby will poop eventually, don't do anything special to make him go.

Cereal and iron are binding, so you really should stop using the cereal. La Leche League recommends sweet potatoes, bananas or avacados as a first food rather than cereal. I've included lots of links about solids and bf babies for you to look over.

Nearly every medical organization throughout the world recommend waiting until 6 months or later to introduce solid foods, including the AAP, the World Health Organization, La Leche League, and many others. It is not necessary for babies, and it appears that it is causing digestive trouble for your son so it would be especially beneficial to quit the solids and try again in another month or two.

Try baby suppositories (you have to cut them in half or make them smaller so they will fit without hurting him and use vaseline as a lubricant) - if you don't feel comfortable take him to the E.R. and they will do it....my son was constipated for days at a time when he was that age and he was misreble. Prunes will help. Our ped reccomended giving him a warm bath also (this never worked but it might help him to relax.). Whenever they are adjusting to a new food this happens....for a while.

completely typical for a completely breast fed toddler. some toddlers pass many circumstances an afternoon, some once, some each and every few days. that is typical for a completely breast fed toddler to pass as a lot as ten days without a bowel flow. He actually does no longer choose a suppository, except even as he is going that is amazingly complicated in consistency he's not constipated. Constipation is defined via the complicated consistency of the stool, no longer the frequency of the bowel moves.

He needs to be taken to the ER as soon as possible. Our adult bodies begin going toxic after 3 or 4 days. That poor baby. It probably has something to do with starting the rice cereal too. Might be too harsh on his little system.

Try pear juice 1oz to 1 oz of water, this is what my doctor recommended for my son.It worked well for him. Also stop the cereal for a few days, that will probably help also.Iron makes u constapeted.I know this cause my baby has been on iron medicine.

Put him in a warm bath and massage his lower stomach. He just might not be relaxed enough. Also, the iron in formula sometimes bungs babies up. Apple juice also helps sometimes better than prune juice.

a very common problem not to worry ,i knowits not easy not to worry coz i used to worry too when it happened to my son . he was on exclusive breast milk and nothing else and he had the same problem .i immidiately ran to my pead who told me it was common but at the same time he prescibed baby suppositories which i was advised not to use too often only on the 4th or 5th day coz the baby will def be uncomfortable. and whats more ,it is very painful to watch yor 5 mth baby try to poopo coz its painful so as to ease your mind go to a pharmacy and ask for advice on baby suppositories or better still go to a doc just to be sure

It is normal for breastfed babies to go up to 7 days without pooping. If he hasn't gone by tomorrow though, I would check with his doctor.
