Democrats by nature feel that they are more educated, smarter, and better suited to running the country than anyone else. Quaint ideas like freedom, work ethic, and personal responsibilty are not in their vocabulary.
They are bigoted because they feel that they (the educated elite) have the worldy responsibilty of telling you (everyone else) what is right and wrong and what you can and cannot do.
Color is not the bigot factor but education, wealth, and "friends" are. The fact that minorities happen to not have any of the three is why they are deemed "lesser".
What is hilarious is that the minorities will continue to vote these people into office even when they are only being used to do so.
Why are more and more Hispanics and Blacks voting Replublican? The answer is obvious. The message of faith and work ethic mean more than the welfare noise of the left.

Looking through some of the idiotic answers to your post, I often wonder the same thing.
You would think that the Dimbulbs would be happy that Condi Rice is Sec of State; a damn pretty high place to be for an African-American. But no, all they can think of is call her an Uncle Tom or a traitor to their own kind.
Speaking of which, to some of these morons, it was the Republican party that formed the NAACP. Hmmm....civil rights indeed. Oh, and Sen Byrd, another dimbulb, used to be a part of the KKK.

Democrats ARE the most racists. Many ppl don't realize that the Dems don't believe that Blacks (and other ethnic groups) are capable of standing on their own two feet and taking care of themselves. So while believing this philosophy, they have used, abused and manipulated Blacks for years and years in order to win their confidence and votes. And it has worked. By all the handouts, they have convinced Blacks of how co-dependent they (Blacks) are on the Dem. party. How evil and devious is that????
One could wonder if a Dem. would ever win if the blinders were taken off of the eyes of these minorities.

Back when you are talking about in time, the southern democrats were repuglicans in democratic clothing. Repuglicans haven't been fair to the working man or a person of color since Abe Lincoln. He was the last.

seems to me, that the Republicans are far more intolerant than the Dems. i.e. gay marriage for instance.

Well, they USED to be, but, when Kennedy and Johnson pushed civil rights, back in th' 60s, all those KKKers joined the Republican party, and, BOY, have they multiplied!!!!
