Most oriental rugs are folded for transport and arrive with what sometimes seem very ugly creases, but if you leave a creased rug flat on the floor the creases will gradually disappear, especially as it is walked on. If you want to speed up the process lie it out flat upside down and go lightly over the back with a steam spray from a steam cleaner or steam iron. Repeat on successive days if necessary. Don't be impatient or you will damage your rug.

The best way would be to hang it in a steamy bathroom and let the creases fall out naturally. You could if you have a powerful iron, steam iron it, but there is a chance of then crushing the pile of the rug.

Good luck

Roll the rug up away from the creases. Leave it like this overnight. This should smooth them out.
