University medical libraries often shelve extra copies of medical texts. You could look at them on site, but to check one out would require a student ID. If you're just looking for medical information on the internet, http://medlineplus.gov/ is a wealth of info. You can also find old editions online for cheaper (ebay). Most info is correct, but med books are updated on a yearly basis, usually.

My guess is you will have to rely on garage sales or the Salvation Army store. Remember you get what you pay for.
