yes, pushing his luck. AOL has post your thoughts page for this @ http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/stingray-kills-crocodile-hunter/20060904005509990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001. Still, the greatness of such a man lies in your interpretation of years of experience tempered by his love for nature and bringing up a family to admire the traits of animals. My post is @ http://messageboards.aol.com/aol/en_us/articles.php?boardId=565402&articleId=5330&func=5&channel=News%20AOL%20Managed. Animals can be very dangerous. People can be very brave to get so close and make a great living giving us the experience without having to pay such a high price. U.S.A. loves Australia. We are friends forever as we all lift up Steve and his family Terri, Bindi Sue and Bob in prayer and our thanks for a wonderfull life spent doing what he loved for our benefit and pleasure.

Even his agent said in an interview he's been fearing this for 20 years. The weird thing is, stingrays are not usually dangerous, and this was kind of a bizarre freak accident.

I am of course not ultimately suprised by his demise, nor its nature, but it's still sad. He was a landmark conservationist, a devoted husband and father, and an Australian icon. His job may have been crazy, but that doesn't mean he deserved what he got. I do think he died doing what he loved though, and I don't think he would want it any other way.

The man did have more than a few warnings, with a wife and kids its time to think in different terms, like safer. Hadn't he been bitten several times by snakes and the like?

I agree - he took what he deemed to be calculated risks - but they were risks nonetheless. It's sad, but it was the same with that guy and his girlfriend that lived with the bears in Alaska. These are wild animals and we are encroaching upon their lives, so it is reasonable that they will do whatever they deem necessary to survive if they feel threatened.

Any person that works with wild animals is in danger at any given time they are close to them.
This was just a freak accident. It was just his time to leave this world.
I feel for his family.
