carlos beltran, ryan howard, albert pujols... either of these guys should win. If Phillies make the playoffs then easily Howard as he carries them with chase utley and pat the bat. i wouldnt like to call it though.

Howard is a no brainer if the Phillies manage to make the playoffs, but if they dont, it will probably go to Albert Pujols. The Mets are for sure going to make the playoffs, and I dont think they're going to pick Beltran because he hasnt really carried the Mets through hard times or been the sole reason the Mets are where they are now. Ryan Howard picked up the Phillies, carried them up the wild card mountain, shoved some people out of the way and wont stop until he is in the Playoffs. He has better numbers than all of the other guys, but you cant call a race until its over and thats not for till the end of the month where anything could happen in between. Right now, id say Ryan Howard, then Albert Pujols, then Carlos Beltran.

Ryan Howard if Philly wins wild card. Otherwise Pujols, maybe Beltran. I'd be surprised if Pujols, Howard and Beltran aren't top 3.

David Wright has tailed off too much since the All Star Break. His MVP years are ahead of him.

Reyes will get some recognition, I wouldn't even be surprised were he to get a 1st or 2nd place vote and finish in the top 5 and I'd be shocked if he didn't make the top 10 but with power numbers the way they are these days a player like him is at a real disadvantage. He needs a year like .320, 75 stolen bases and 140 runs scored with no one having really high homerun and RBI numbers to have shot at MVP.

Oh, you're not a Mets fan, are you?!

The three contenders are Ryan Howard, Albert Pujols, and Carlos Beltran. If the Phillies end up winning the wild card, then their is no doubt that Howard will win it. If the Phillies are left out of the playoffs, then I'd say Albert will win it, because without Albert, the Cardinals would not have a winning record.

Aight look at this I'm a met fan and love the season that Beltran is having this year compared to last years but I'll say that the nl mvp will have to go to Ryan Howard he helped carry the team with those eye opening power numbers. Pujols is my favorite player but I wouldn't call him mvp even thogh when he was gone the cards suck without him and now they are better with him but I don't mvp on his forehead like i did last year and he should be scared of the reds who are getting closer to them. And about Beltran I watcjh the mets everyday and he tend to blend in with everyone on the team because it such a great team with so much great players even when they have a bad game like Reyes and Wright. peace out guy and god bless.

Well, if the Phillies make it then Howard is gonna win because out of the big three possibilities (Howard, Beltran and Pujols), Howard beats both players in RBIs and homeruns and also beats Beltran in OBP and AVG. If the Phillies dont make it then Pujols will win because he means MUCH more to the cardinals weaker offense then Beltran means to the Mets offense. Pujols is also beating Beltran in every major statistic despite being injured for several weeks. And as for fielding...neither player is near the best in the league so I wouldn't even take fielding into account.

I think Carlos Beltran but the other two have also had great years. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Howard won the award especially if the Phillies get into the playoffs as the wild card.
