driving down the road instrument panel lights flashed, all gauges dont work, car still runs fine, gauges wont work.

Most likely you have lost the power circuit to the cluster. That is the only connection common to all the Lights and Instruments.
On most GM cars of this vintage, there is a fuse for INSTRUMENTS. Check it and replace it if it is blown. If it blows again, find the cause. DON"T merely replace it with a higher rating. You can burn your little car to the ground (with you in it) if it catches fire.

pull your radiator cap off and put a Ford under it
