I would start at vcoins.com, but remember that the prices will be somewhat high compared to Ebay. It depends on the quality you want. Maybe contact a dealer and tell him you want a nice specimen of Augustus that is the most common type. This should be the cheapest example you can get. If you knew what you were doing, there are many coins on Ebay that are authentic, but you do need to know how to separate them from the forgeries.

Augustus is fairly inexpensive since he ruled for a very long time. The following Emperor Tiberius is more expensive since he didn't rule nearly as long, so therefor not as many coins were struck. You should be able to find a nice example of an As, (a copper coin denomination a little larger than a quarter), for about $25.

Yes, you can buy coins form the reign of Augusta Caesar. Bronze ones can be relatively cheap. Check a coin dealer that specializes in ancient coins. The magazine "Coin World" is best and most realiable. The coins listed in Coin World advertised by Jonathan Kern are the best. You take your chances with ebay. Half the stuff there on ebay looks fake and it is. Silver and gold coins from Augustus can be quiet rare and valuable and, unfortuately easily faked.

There are many sites, but even ebay has them--I have several Roman coins, and even one of Phillip of Macedonia. Check to see first who the dealers are who are selling them, and check their rating.
