If you mean forest reservations, I disagree. Forests are declared as reservations to protect the various species of flora and fauna found therein. This is to sustain the ecological system in that area. In addition, a reservation is necessary to maintain and protect watersheds and natural water reservoirs that renew or replenish the water supplies of adjoining residential areas.

"If we keep forest reservations, then these do not contribute to the growth of the nation." That seems to be the argument. Not so. If you turn each and every piece of land into alienable arable and residential land, then the nation will be eating into itself as it fails to conserve its renewable natural resources. It is only the presence of natural resources that assure and ensure the sustainability of economic growth. The raw materials are normally obtained from these natural resources.

If the nation thinks that importing all raw materials would be a sound alternative, then it will be at the mercy of the other (exporting) country. Also, there is no assurance that there will always be political stability in that source country. If there is a sudden change of government or a civil war occurs in that country, what will happen to the supply of the raw materials?

... at least that is how I understood your question and that's how I responded to it.
