For broadband, you may have two basic choices.
- check your phone company for DSL. So unless you are willing to change phone company's stop looking.
- check your cable provider for cable High Speed.
- If neither are available, look for a local provider of HughesNet and get Satellite High Speed. Get the version that does not require a telephone.

Lots of complaints about my ISP because they are signing up 100,000 new customers a month for broadband and you have to wait a bit. Also the BT exchanges need new equipment to get up to speed. DSL is basically cable - and usually comes with cable TV. It's expensive. Talktalk is cheap - that's why everyone is signing up. £19.99 for broadband and phone calls and line rental. that's phone calls to numbers starting in 01 or 02 not 0845 or 0870. Most of my calls are free. I have a web site. But the speeds vary and I'm waiting for the new stuff to go in the exchanges for better speeds up to 8 Mbs - but all ADSL over BT lines have the same problem. If you have relatives or friends abroad - you can go on TalkTalk3 international for £20.99 a month - I think that's still available. I'm on that and get free calls to landlines in the UK, EU, North America, Australia and New Zealand and of course the broadband. That includes line rental. the set up fee of £29.99 I paid with the line rental I used to pay BT 3 months in advance! Check my website - some info on there and a link to TalkTalk. But there is a waiting list!

i am with bt and i can understand your problems, allthough i have been quite lucky with my bt home hub,but my connection drops every now and again,
if you have a home hub,try using your old router(the voyager 205 was a good router)and see how that goes,as the home hub seems to be experiencing problems of late
i think bt brought the hub out far too quick and not enough testing was done with it,again its bt thinking about profits for the shareholders over customer satisfaction
however if you still want to change isp(internet service provider),i would go for either a.o.l,(good security, good connection and a fair price),or sky broadband max package(unlimited downloads(no fair usage 600gb if you want to))
isp,s to avoid are ticalli, orange and pipex, packages sound good but are really only for part time broadband users
my opinion.....sort out the router problem and stick with broadband, from a mate who works for bt...good things are to come to bt...32m/bit speeds...and all the telephone/broadband cables are to be upgraded over the next 5 years
remember bt own the lines ,so they have the power over the rest
good luck

I'm with plus.net and whilst things are usually okay when you're online - when things go wrong their customer service can be lacking - in fact it's very hard to raise a query without having to go through their wizard telling you what you already know, and the alternative is to be put into a queue where they just go on about BT charges as reasons not to fix problems.
Definitely not a recommended provider.

Everyone who has broadband or wanting to change their ISP should read the following article

For the Record I'm with PIPEX, although their connection speeds are good their customer service is non-existent.

PIPEX are one of the biggest ISPs in the country but getting them to sort out problems is just about impossible.

I know one but I don't think it's international, I mean local in Nigeria and it's Horizon wireless. Another one is Starcomms Internet Service Provider[www.starcomms.com].

SBC Global/Yahoo is good. They are running a good $ deal right now but it ends September 30. It says $12.99/month but actually winds up being $14.99/month on your phone bill. I have had no problems with it.
