there are a few good answers above - try majorgeeks.com and tucows.com and downloads.com for freeware as well. there are dozens of programs that spy on whatever the user does. Some programs are HUGE and slow, so that you MUST have a fast machine to handle them - these programs track almost everything including both in and out traffic. The smaller programs only trace what is typed in on the keyboard which is usually enough to get a good idea what is going on..
use dogpile.com to do a search for keyboard loggers and trackers etc.

Kids are clever but not to smart - just goto view(up the top)
click on explorer option then click on history or just push ctrl H.
If they want to be clever go to tools ,internet options, settings
,view files. that will show all the cookies and from that you can get a indication anyway.
Lots of ways to check things on a computer without buying programmes...
You can also change the security level which will cut out a lot of crap sites
goto tools , internet options, privacy and change the bar to high
That can be changed by the user though so might not work on the wizzs around..
Just don't get to paranoid as kids will be kids and we all did it when we were the same age..

There are many ways you can track, monitor and even control what websites your child visits. You could install parental control to control their access to certain websites and access times to the computer or some kind of monitoring software such as a key logger or spy ware. That way you could see what sites they visit and get and use their passwords to login to their accounts to see what they are up to.

Internet filters are made specifically to handle Web site blocking. Typically they let you specify only sites to be blocked—all other sites are allowed. There is a free program available that can help filter out Web sites that have inappropriate words or content:
http://www.tpg.com/au/adslgoej/
Some filters do the opposite—you specify sites that you want and all other sites are blocked.
ChildWebGuardian (http://www.childwebguardian.com/ $30)
Bsafe Online (http://www.besafehome.com/ $50)
Safe Eyes (http://www.safeeyes.com/ $50).
Filter programs come with a lot of other features for parents. Features can include keylogging, Web browsing reports or timers. These programs might be more than what you really need.

you can either set them up with a yahoo kids account -- or there are plenty of programs out there (you can get at staples, or office max, places like that) that track what the kids do without them knowing you are tracking them. you can also check the interenet history -- but remember sometimes pop ups occur no matter what website you are on. Also, you can avoid them sneaking around by leaving the ocmputer out of their room, or your room, and puting it in a public area of the house like the kitchen or den. Hope it helps! C

Open the browser they use (usually Internet Explorer) and look in the menu for "History". Click on that and it will display a listing of the sites they have visited (usually for the last 20 days).

Most providers have a child safe way of blocking sites. You have to enter a password to even see the sites. You could also set up your screen for them to log in on their own name and set limits to that user. MSN and Aol have where you can have a list sent to your inbox,Yahoo may too.
