In the US tights are usually heavier, thicker and opaque or patterened. Pantyhose are sheerand much thinner. In Brittan, tights are pantyhose, I don't think they even use the word pantyhose.

Hi Nelly. In America pantyhose are thin and sheer. They usually have a cooton panel, Tights are the same as pantyhose in England I think. But tights are thicker. They don't usually have the cotton panel and they are best in the winter. Many men also wear tights a lot in both countries. Does that help?

Tights are usually more opaque (you cannot see through them as much). Pantyhose are thinner and usually have a built-in "panty". Tights are commonly footless also.
