Depends on what SPF, and also what your skin type is. Darker skinned people are recommended to use 15 and above, Medium coloured are recommended to use 25 and above, and pale dskinned people - like me - are recommended to use 30 - 35, or higher. The mistake most people make is thinking that the higher you go, the longer you can leave it. This is a falacy.

I went to Florida last year and took with me Ambre Solaire factor 50 and 60 with me, but I found a great sunblock there called Panama Jack Surf Sunblock factor 75. It cannot be bought here, but can be bought off the internet for $8 a tube. It is brilliant stuff and lasted me the whole two weeks with applying every two hours during the day. I never go out in the sun without my shoulders covered or without sunblock. I would never use tanning oils; I might as well put cooking oil on myself and sit in the oven.

(ps - times the SPF by 3 and that number is the minutes it'll last for before u gotta reaply it). - This is wrong. It is not the length of time you can go without re-applying. The SPF means how many times it will add to your skins natural protection, which is why you muct re-apply often, because it is absorbed into you body after a while.

Depends on the SPF (or Sun Protection Factor)

The HIGHER the spf of a sunblock, the GREATER the protection...

i think the max at the moment is either an SPF60 or SPF90

but either one should block out alot of sun

Reasonably effective, but you still need to take added precautious such as avoiding the midday sun, wearing a hat and sunglass and reapply the sunblock regularly. HTH : )

depends. it is important to apply at least a factor 15(blocks out 93% of the suns uv rays) and to always use more than you think is necessary. they advise at least an ounce.

It depends on how high the factor is... the higher the better as it helps prevent skin cancer and skin damage... It is said that tanned skin is damaged skin
