My daughter and I were two blocks away when the first tower was hit. She was pregnant at the time and had an appointment in the North tower. Since she was pregnant, we were walking a bit slow. I am a former military pilot and knew it was a big plane that hit the building, and, on a clear day like that, it was not an accident. I grabbed my daughter and we got back to the parking garage where my car was. I drove like hell to get out of the city. By the time we got to my car, the second tower was hit. Has we waited to watch what was going on, we would not have got out of the city for hours.

I live in Texas, so I was nowhere close. But I was working for a newspaper at the time. I had tuned my car radio to a station that I don't normally listen to, and as I was driving to work I was thinking "Oh my goodness, this is the most elaborate hoax since the thing with Orson Welles and War of the Worlds." I didn't even think of changing the radio station, because it seemed like it couldn't be real. Then I was going to tell everyone when I got to the office, because even though it was not a local station, I thought other people might have heard, but when I got there everyone was watching CNN and I realized it had really happened.

No not that day but we were there on 9/7 to 9/9 for the weekend and we stayed at the hotel across the street ( Millinium) and we sat in the courtyard having coffee and looking up at the towers thinking how beautiful these buildings are on 9/9.

My wife and I were in the Marriott Hotel in Times Square on our honeymoon. Luckily we stayed out late the night before and slept in. We had planned to go to the Empire State Building that day and possibly go to the top. We saw the WTC the day before.

No, but was blocks away in 1993 when they were attacked the first time.
I was talking with my sister on the phone as she watched the second plane hit from her balcony.
