you can use your command prompt.
In windows

Go to Start > Run
Type cmd > Press enter

This will open your command prompt.

Then type 'telnet' followed by the IP address of the server.
ex: telnet 127.0.0.1

Will telnet your local server if you have one.

BUT

Telnet is not very secure. For a more secure way of doing the same 'job' use SSH with putty. Ask you ISP if SSH is installed

open up internet explorer and into the address bar and type telnet:// followed by the address, like this


telnet://eadx.net

then write "o "the ip of the server or the adress" "the port for connecting (optional) "
