Hi, I am a student,studying a computing degree. I have a little previous programming expirience using Pascal,C++ and HTML. I want to learn a language susch as Php or Cold Fusion to build a web site for a friends business. Which would you recomend learning, and which do you think would be faster to implement?

You will find that PHP is a lower cost solution. More servers run PHP on lower cost and FASTER Linux machines.

Look at the web servers that you might rent first.
The accounts at http://www.ipowerweb.com are $7.95 per month with 50GB of hard drive space. They include MySQL and php.

Learn Coldfusion. CF is much easier to use and learn. Consider this: government agenices, universities, banks and B2C companies all use CF for their needs.

Writing a query in CF is simple and plain:

SELECT a,bc
FROM myTable


That's it!

The learning curve is also very fast.
