I am concerned about the possibility of the ladder breaking.

I am asking this before buying a ladder.

Most ladders have a little leeway in the weight however if you're going to use it a lot or if you intend on standing on it while using tools, painting etc you're better off with a heavier duty ladder. Most people forget about the weight of tools and the height that you need to work at. A light weight ladder may also feel flimsy while you're climbing and there's nothing worse than feeling a ladder wobble while you're climbing or working.

Hi, A rating is 80 of the strenght of the ladder, I work on ladders everyday and mine is rated at 250 and i weight , well 280 and have been using same ladder for many yrs now,

I don;t think you are planning on using the top run of the ladder, that rating should do you just fine , BUT be carefrul with each use

Buy the next ladder up. Safety is nothing to take a chance on.

However, the chances of that 200 lb rated ladder of holding you up is fantastic.

How rated products get rating is an amazing process.

There are ladders rated at 250, and even 300, pounds. Try buying the right one, instead of being cheap and taking a chance.

Do Not Exceed the ladders rating.

Buy the next heavier rated ladder.

Yes you can. Safety ratings do have a give factor in them. But at the same time the latter will not be as stable as a higher limit. I don't like my ladders wobbling when I am on them and guess what. That is what it will do.

Best to follow the safety warnings. If it says don't, then don't.

Purchase a ladder that you can use; something that's well capable of holding up the weight you need it to hold up.

LADDERS ARE RATED FOR GENERAL USE. NORMALLY, IF YOU ARE AT THAT WEIGHT, AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CARRY ANYTHING UP WITH YOU, YOU WILL BE FINE. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THE LADDER ALL THE TIME SUCH AS PROFESSIONAL USE YOU WILL WANT TO GET A HIGHER RATING LADDER.

I would. Often, for safety reasons, If something is ratec for _lbs (like your ladder) the thing is ok for a little more weight, but to make sure they dont get sued, the compagny writes a lower number.
