I suspect it was broken off or quit up and down. If you hear motor running un do the chrome nut on the fender pull up on the mast some mast drive will be in the motor. Now open the trunk pull back on the gray inner liner remove the jack take one 10mm nut off for the bottom bracket unplug the motor and antennia cable pull assembly out with drain tube sunroof cars pull hose off of the antennia motor. Now remove six screws around the motor and one nut in the center (some models) lift the lid watch the rubber seal remove white reel flip over and dig the rest of the greasy white mast drive out reassemble put hoses back thru the grommet. important not to fill the trunk with water. reinstall motor plug antennia and motor back in feed the top part thru the fender and put the 10mm nut back on. Buy new mast for that car. At mazda, 626 is longer have helper turn on the radio while feeding white mast drive into the antennia tube twist and push once you feel the motor pushing and clicking turn the radio off and the mast will be pulled in. Install the top chrome nut turn the radio on if right and you did not leave something off everything will go up and down again.
