There are times when something like this happens and you feel as though you've lost a friend....even though you never knew them personally.,,,,,,Steve Irwin was a total one off kind of a guy....sweet and crazy.........we all knew something would happen to him...he took too many chances........He and Terry looked like soulmates.......and to leave a daughter and son......so sad........there'll never be another Steve....perhaps a second best version will come along to try to grab his glory...but they'll never be him.............how sad and shallow that someone put on here....that now they were fed up hearing about it.....obviously all heart...............I'm sure if he had the choice...he'd rather have faced senility and stayed with his family, although it's true that he did what he loved........I hope he does rest in peace.....children will miss him too........any child I've met loved him and his croc files................he'll be sorely missed.

He had a great enthusiasm for his subject, something I found very endearing. It's not often you come across a presenter who truly loves his subject. You may not know of Johnny Morris who presented Animal Magic back in the 70s but he had the same spirit. At least I'm sure Steve died the way he would have wanted - with his beloved wild animals and not just fading away into senility. I will miss him, cobber.

I loved that guy. We all did... He was so lively, he lived life to the fullest. It hit hard on almost everyone in the world. It wasn't supposed to happen, it was a freak accident... most of us thought it would be a croc, not a stingray. I wish I could see his underwater documantary he was making. He died before it was finished. He was somewhat crazy but for some reason we all liked him...
But now he's gone.

I have been watching the programmes on The Animal Planet about him tonight.
Love him or hate him you have to admit the guy was passionate about animals. These programmes tell the story of his life & how he became a TV personality.
He was so cool & totally unafraid.

Couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning, seems unreal, really feel for his wife and 2 small children. It was fitting though that he died doing a job he really enjoyed, as he was happy right until the end.

At least he lived his life to the full and he managed to survive a lot of potentially fatal things.

I know, what a way to die. And only 44.
Apparently death by Stingray is very unusual. He was very unlucky to get a stingray barb straight into his heart.
