In my opinion it would be Geoff Merrick. He captained Bristol City and also England School boys in his early days. He used to work for my dad as a paperboy in Bedminster, Bristol in Dean lane, I must have been about 3 years old at the time. He used to take me out the back for a kick around. I can very vaguely remember it. The last time I saw him was at Southmead hospital social club where he was doing a presentation. When he found out my parents were there he went straight over to them to say hello. This was about 27 years ago, I was 17 at the time. I am 44 now. I believe at the time he was living in the Nailsea area, as he invited my parents to dinner. I don't know if they went.
A real gentleman and ambassador of the game.

It has to be John Atyeo who was capped 6 times by England and set the club appearance and goal scoring records during 15 years at Ashton Gate.He played for England between 1955 and 1957 and despite offers from higher league clubs that could have made him the most expensive player in England he stayed at City throughout his career. He made 700 appearances and scored395 goals by the time he retired in 1966.In fact the new stand that replaced the Park End at Ashton Gate in 1994 was named the Atyeo Stand after him.He sadly died in 1993 aged 61 years.

Please forgive me my friend, I am American.
So that means I do not know soccer or rugby as much as you do. But I do enjoy sports just as much as you do.
We have Baseball, Basketball, Football and other sports we love across the big pond.
Since I don't know where Bristol City is maybe you can enlighten me.
Who do you think will be the AFC and NFC champs this season
in the NFL?
Have fun but be safe.
