The most contentious issue in tort, in my view, is when a case of negligence is brought against directors of big corporations and they get off virtually scott free even though people have lost their lives. Although corporate manslaughter is now looked upon more seriously I still feel that the lengthy prison sentences deserved by these fatcats is avoided.

This is only equalled by the fact that the gutter press continually commit libel, get pathetic little fines and paultry sums of money levied to their victims, who's lives and reputations have been ruined by inaccurate and/or barefaced lies just to sell a newspaper. The editors and reporters responsible should be jailed and the paper fined enough to make it bankrupt. Use this to make an example of one or two of them and the others will think twice about doing it.

on the fly guess, i would say check the acts and statues, if you have a law dictionary, look up tort in there for a brief update on torts in the world of law today. If you have access to online law journals, the search engine will let you pick out the best articles to answer your question effortlessly.

goodluck with that answer.
