A croc could never kill him. He was too good.

It did come as a bit of a shock, although I knew something would happen eventually. He was awesome with all animals, but he made me nervous alot! He did things that I wouldn't do for anything! I liked watching his show. For some reason, I never thought he would get killed by a croc. He seemed to know them too well. He will be missed, but he died doing what he loved, which is more than alot of us can say!

just found out the horrible news. Did you no their have been only two other deaths by a stingray reported in Australia? My heart goes out to his family. His little girl is around my daughters age. My daughter is almost 6, my son is 4. I told them and they both were terribly upset. My daughter suggests we send the children carebears. But im not sure how to do that. At least he died donig what he loved to do. And he really helped the causes of the animals. The animals have lost a great alli. I am so very sad.I also always feared that somthing like this would happen. Like getting bit by a crock or a poisonis snake.

Yeah thought it would have been a croc too. At least he died doing something he loved and his body is recoverable... not ripped apart and digesting in a croc's stomach! Quite a shock to hear, didn't really believe it.

I felt deep sadness for what had happened to him. I watched one of his programmes last week (I hadn't watched any of them in ages!) when I just thought to myself looking at him 'This will be the end of you'. I really felt that one day he will get killed because he was always taking great risks. I think that he achieved many things in life, like educating people about animals, the environment, conservation etc. so he should have stopped and retire from it. Especially after his kids were born. He should have quit while he was ahead because those tiny kids will now grow up without their dad.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

thats exactly what i thought, i mean he has had some pretty close shaves in the past so (not meaning it in a bad way) i think it would've been more interesting if it was a croc!... but its still sad what happened to him because his shows were entertaining R.I.P x

Yes and no.

I was shocked in how he died since he was know more for crocodiles and reptiles not sealife

I am not suprised an animal took him out. He was the king of bothering wild poisnous animals and jumping out of the way before he was bit.
