here are some examples of haiku. It is quite easy once you get into the habit of writing it. Just choose something quite simple to begin with, maybe phrase it as a question and then supply the answer.
As for the border, depending on what theme you choose, keep it simple. Concentrate on getting the Haiku written first and then when you read it back to yourself imagine what sort of feelings, or thoughts it gives you and work them into the artwork.

Your teacher wants you to write a poem in Haiku--3 lines, 5 syllables on lines 1 & 3 and 7 syllables on line 2. Then he/she wants you decorate in artwork and give a brief explanation about how your poem fits with the assigned topic.

The ice in winter
People moving to and fro
One falls on his a*s

Not a great haiku but it follows the form and describes the dangers of walking on ice.

P.S. This one's copyrighted (by me) so don't use it.

Its a form of poetry called a haiku.

Such as...

I once was a boy
but now I have become man
I want to go back

Something like that....
You can find the syllables by clapping while you read the line.

If you type this in word you can put a boarder around it.

Or if you can hand draw a boarder. In my case I would draw and old man and then a young man and repeat.

Hope this helped
