Hindsight is never beneficial in the event that's just passed. It is in future events since you've learned from the previous experience.
We learn from every mistake except the last one.

Hindsight is handy when you will be doing something over and over again. Each repetition gives you a chance to reflect and determine what you can do better next time.

any situation the same as a friend or colleague has been in where they made the wrong choice
i.e. you mate thinks it's a good idea to jump into a freezing lake he jumps in and freezes to death
you with the benefit of hindsight do not jump in the freezing lake

Good question. When the same circumstances repeat themselves then you can rely on hindsight to decide what to do. 'Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it' Santayana.

Any bad outcome that you survive and have to deal with the same or similar circumstances - unfortunately, upon death all benefits are rescinded.

It is not beneficial. It just feels good as a way of kicking yourself in the butt and thinking "I should have known better than that."

We can't have the benifit of hindsight in things that have yet to happen. Please rephrase in a way that makes sense.
