Good---we're free to elect whomever we choose!

Bad--Too much pandering to big business and special interest groups that puts them in office. Too many partisan political games. There's too much emphasis on keeping one group in power and not enough on bi-partisan problem solving. We all suffer.

Bad

Too much corruption. Unbridled spending (paid travel, pork barrel projects, social welfare, ridiculous research grants, excessive salaries, ridiculous retirement packages, atronomical aid to foreign countries that hate us). Too little participation by the masses. Too much involvement of government in society. Liberal judges trying to legislate from the bench. Lobbyists that shouldn't be allowed in the process.

Good

Officials are elected (though not enough people take that right seriously enough by actually getting off their duff and voting, taking time to know the issues, or paying any attention to what politicians are doing)

We do have a system of checks and balances.

Our system was founded on Christian principles that make it an incredibly competent system if those principles are followed.

The ability of government to help the masses in natural disasters (Katrina is a joke on so many levels...the government was overwhelmingly effecient in that intance like all other disasters in this countries history...but you don't hear about the National Guard triumphs, the refusal of help by the govenor or the mayor, their inept decision making, the fact that the state of Louisana passed the bill for those levies off on the government for years and refused to fix the problem themselves)

The openness of the system in publishing voting records and debates.

The ability of the people to contact their representatives.

The term limits placed on the president.

Basically the failures of the government are the failures of the people in society. The don't vote, they aren't informed, they won't take a stand and make their voices be heard, they have no idea what is happening in Washington outside of what they see on the few minutes they watch liberal news programs. The masses are uneducated, apathetic, immoral, and mislead. All failures and problems with government are the failures of the people to take an informed stand. Government is what we have let it become.

Good , bad , pros cons I think we could all come up with a list that would go on and on forever, based on facts and personal opinions. Remember , however, whatever your stand on a particular government policy, you can be heard and change it by voting, petitions, protests, writing to legislature, we are a free country and can be heard.

We are free to elect our officials Which is a good thing. The bad thing is once they are in office they seem to forget all about the people they are supposed to be representing and cater to whoever contributes the most money to thier campain funds

Pros- We do have good intentions when it comes to helping other nations obtain freedom.

Cons- We don't always understand how to help other nations do this without offending them, occupying their lands or making the world understand we must benefit in some way for our sacrifices.
