Start talking about 'girly' things... like jewelry, lipstick, makeup, mirrors, shoes, handbags, hose, cologne, Britney Spears...

maybe you should start by looking at what is the worst thing that can happen if they reject you? I guess, the sky is not going to fall. If you are convinced about it...then i think its gonna be a lot more easier to go and talk to them

First I think it might be best if you approach girls in a gay friendly environment such as a gay bar or gay oriented establishment or try meeting girls on-line. Secondly, if you get rejected don't get discouraged because not everyone is for everyone. Don't take it personally.

I used to really be a wallflower and always waited for people to talk to me. It just took me working up the courage to walk up to a girl and starting a conversation. It's easier to listen in and join in a conversation sometimes.

Well its not best to approach any girl you are attracted to. When you meet girls and you feel a connection - it will happen...or you can use sites where you can specifically look for girls who are interested in finding other girls like bicupid.com

Start with "hi, my name is _____" and see where it goes from there... if she doesn't seem attracted, ask her where she got her shoes from, or where the bathroom is, or if she too thinks the band playing sucks... if she catches on, introduce her to your boyfriend if you don't want to get caught

I used to be like that... it just takes some time. You have to take little steps until you feel comfortable enough to take long, smooth strides.
Wow, that metaphor sounds weird now.
